How Ranking Works

How Ranking Works for Advicey.com (version 2.3, October 2026). Every bid card is ordered by the amount the firm paid Advicey for placement, highest first. If two amounts are equal, the earlier bid comes first. Nothing else is used: not ratings, not win rates, not reviews, not our opinion.

The rule

Every bid card is ordered by the amount the firm paid Advicey for placement, highest first. If two amounts are equal, the earlier bid comes first. Nothing else is used: not ratings, not win rates, not reviews, not our opinion.

What this means

Order tells you which firm paid more to be shown first. It is advertising. It is not a recommendation or an endorsement, and it says nothing about which lawyer is right for you.

What you see

Firm name, the responsible lawyer's name, the office city, "Bar number checked" with the state, number and date we checked it against the state's public records, the client fee the firm commits to, the firm's own pitch, and how many cases it has handled on Advicey. We never show the amount a firm paid.

Pools

Pool members see the same cards in the same order and vote. Most votes wins; if tied, the higher bid wins. Advicey cannot override a vote.

Partner plan

Some firms prepay a year of placement fees through a Partner plan. That never changes card order: a Partner's card is placed by its bid amount, exactly like every other card. Partner firms can see a new case up to 2 hours before other firms, so they may bid sooner; you still have the full time to compare every bid before you pick. We don't label Partner firms on bid cards, because being a Partner says nothing about a lawyer's quality.

Do your own research

Before you hire, check the lawyer's record with your state bar and ask about experience, fees and costs.
