1. Not a law firm
ABC INFO LLC is not a law firm, is not a lawyer referral service, and is not a substitute for a lawyer. Advicey does not give legal advice, does not practice law, and does not represent anyone, including Pool members. Our employees are not acting as your lawyers, even if some of them are lawyers.
2. No attorney-client relationship
Using Advicey, posting a case, joining a Pool, contacting us, or reading anything on our site does not create an attorney-client relationship with Advicey or with any lawyer. A relationship with a lawyer begins only when you and that lawyer sign a retainer or otherwise agree that the lawyer represents you.
3. Not legal advice
Everything on Advicey, including our blog, guides, Pool pages, mission pages, emails, help answers and state notes, is general information for education. It may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong for your situation. Laws change and differ by state and by facts. Do not act or fail to act based on anything here without talking to a lawyer licensed in your state.
4. Attorney advertising
Bid cards and pitches are attorney advertising paid for by the firms that wrote them. In some states this must be labeled "Attorney Advertising" or "Advertising Material"; we label every card. The firm named on a card and its responsible lawyer are responsible for its content. Advicey reviews pitches for basic rules but does not verify every statement in them.
5. No endorsement or rating
Card order is based only on the amount each firm paid for placement, with ties going to the earlier bid. Advicey does not recommend, endorse, vouch for, rate or rank any lawyer by quality, and does not analyze your legal problem to choose a lawyer for you. "Cases handled on Advicey" is a count, not a measure of quality.
6. Bar checks
"Bar number checked" means we confirmed the license number and status in the state's public records on the date shown. It is not a judgment of skill, experience, ethics or fit, and a lawyer's status can change after we check it. Check your state bar's website before you hire.
7. No guarantee of results
Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. No lawyer, Pool or bounty guarantees that you will recover money. Many claims are lost, settle for less than hoped, or take years. A firm bidding on your case is not a statement that your case is strong.
8. Deadlines
Laws called statutes of limitations and notice deadlines can end your right to bring a claim, sometimes within months (for example claims against a government agency). Advicey cannot tell you your deadline and is not responsible if one passes while you use the site. Talk to a lawyer promptly.
9. Confidentiality before you hire
Information you share on Advicey is protected by our Privacy Policy but is not protected by attorney-client privilege until you hire a lawyer. Share only what the forms ask for. Do not post anything you would not want an opposing party to see.
10. Health information
Advicey is not a health care provider or a HIPAA covered entity, and nothing on Advicey is medical advice. Injury and health details are optional, need your separate consent to collect and to share, and are handled under our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. Do not upload medical records. In an emergency, call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.
11. Not tax, financial or insurance advice
Information about bounties, settlements, liens, taxes or insurance is general and is not tax, accounting, financial or insurance advice. Ask a qualified professional about your situation.
12. Pools are not class actions
A Pool is a group of people who each keep their own claim and each choose whether to hire the Pool's firm. A Pool is not a class action, a collective action, a lawsuit or a legal entity, and joining one does not make Advicey or other members your representative.
13. Lawyers are independent
Lawyers on Advicey are independent professionals, not Advicey employees or agents. They alone are responsible for their legal advice, fees, conduct and compliance with professional rules. Complaints about a lawyer's professional conduct may also be made to that lawyer's state bar.
14. Where Advicey is available
Advicey is open only in states listed as open on our Legal page. Some states require a referral-service license, registration or approval that Advicey does not hold; those states are marked coming soon, and Advicey does not accept cases there. Nothing on the site is an offer in a state where it would be unlawful.
15. Our views and advocacy
Our mission pages, blog and Pool causes express Advicey's opinions about consumer protection and accountability. They describe general patterns and publicly reported events, not findings that any particular person or company broke the law. Statements by users and lawyers are theirs, not ours.
16. Sponsored Pools
When Advicey sponsors a Pool, it pays organizing costs only. It does not fund, direct or control any lawsuit, does not choose the lawyer, and takes no share of any recovery from a sponsored Pool.
17. Accuracy and changes
We work to keep information accurate but do not promise it is complete or current. We may change or remove any content at any time. Translations, if offered, are for convenience; the English version controls.
18. Third-party links and services
Links to courts, agencies, bars or other sites are for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.
19. Certified specialists
A lawyer may describe a certification only if a body recognized by their state granted it, and the card names that body. Advicey does not certify lawyers.
20. State-specific notices
New York: Attorney Advertising. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. South Dakota: cards disclose when a lawyer has no professional liability insurance. Other states' notices appear on our Legal page and on each case and bid screen.
21. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Advicey is not responsible for any loss from relying on information on the site, from a lawyer's advice or services, or from a missed deadline. The Terms of Service, including binding New York arbitration and the class-action waiver, apply to any dispute about this disclaimer.
