Classmates is a website that allows you to connect with past high school friends. They are owned by PeopleConnect.
Personal data collected
Classmates collects personal data from you when you register for their services, such as name, maiden name, postal address, zip code, email address, mobile number, birth date and year, marital status, password, and one or more community affiliations (such as your school). You may also be asked to login via Facebook to register your account. If you decide to do so, you will be giving Classmates access to your public Facebook profile. When you are registered with Classmates, your name, community affiliations, and years associated will be shown on Classmates’ website and you will no longer be anonymous. They may also display your geographic location based off of your zip code, so others can find you. You can opt out of showing your location publicly by accessing your privacy settings and editing your preferences.
If you accept connecting your Facebook to Classmates’ website, personal information may be shared with them, such as email address, birthday, profile, photos, school and work affiliations, location, interests, activities, and friend information. You will also be authorizing Classmates to post to your profile on occasion, such as looking at a reunion, liking a photo, joining a community affiliation, viewing a yearbook, tagging someone in a yearbook, becoming a reunion organizer, updating the detail of a reunion, responding to a reunion invitation, tagging someone as remembered, and allow you to post additional information about your activities or information you found via Classmates.
When you post a positive testimonial, Classmates may display it on their website, marketing materials, and in other places, in addition to other endorsements. The testimonial may include your name and geographic information. They also obtain certain information through your browser, such as IP address, browser type, Internet Service Provider, and other related data.
When you purchase a paid product or service from Classmates, they will collect your name, email address, billing address, and payment information. They do not read member to member messages unless it is for safety reasons, such as fraud, threats, violations of their Terms of Use or Privacy Policy, or any illegal activities. Information posted in comment fields, message boards, events, and other public forums are available to the public, which may not be able to be removed or deleted. If you decide to participate in a survey, Classmates will collect your age, zip code, and income level.
